The Austell Taxpayers’ Best Friend
Austell has been my home for the past ten years and I want it to realize its
full potential as a place to live and do business. That’s why I am running
for City Council, Ward Four. Together, we can deliver results which will
make Austell the best place to live, work and play in the Atlanta metro
region. If I’m elected to represent you on the Austell city council, I will
strive every day to help make Austell a city that you will be proud to call
your own. Please vote for me on November 8th.
On November 8th, the voters of Austell will make a choice about whom they
want to represent them on City Council, Ward Four. I believe I represent
the best choice because of my commitment that the City should provide
the best possible services at the lowest possible cost. My commitment to
keeping down the tax burden was shown when I led the fight against the
Cobb County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) in 2005
and this year, by forming a grass roots organization, the Cobb Taxpayers
Association, which you can access on the internet by logging onto
www.cobbtaxpayer.com.
On that website, you can view the debate I participated in with a
spokesperson who supported maintaining the current six percent sales tax
in Cobb County, which will cost you – on average – $400 a year over the
next four years, or $1600 per year for a family of four. While we lost that
fight by only 90 votes out of over 43,000 votes cast, we were up against
well heeled spending interests that outspent your best interests by over
100 to one.
I, for one, am tired of the tax consumers calling the shots in Austell and
throughout Cobb County. In a down economy, where your property values
have fallen dramatically over the past three years, with no end in sight, I
am tired of all the tax increases we are facing, such as the recently passed
property tax increase by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, and
next year’s school SPLOST and Transportation SPLOST, which could lead
to a seven percent sales tax and will result in a property tax increase of
$100 a year on assessed property of $200,000. When is enough enough?
If you want a strong fiscal conservative on the City Council who will be an
advocate for you in the face of this avalanche of tax increases, then vote
for me on November 8th.
Austell should focus on providing services and infrastructure which can
only be practically provided by city government, and which are needed
and used by all its citizens, such as well-maintained roads, drainage, and
first-rate police and fire protection. As your City Councilman, I will work to
make sure that your City stays focused on its proper role and concentrates
on it’s citizens needs.
Our nation, our state and our city are facing challenging times. Today we
need excellent, honest and vigorous leaders to meet these challenges.
Vote for me on November 8th and together we can make a better future.
Sincerely Yours,
Lance Lamberton
